JOIN IN THE COMPLAINT

We have researched the public information regarding the Center for Arizona Policy, the organization headed by Cathi Herrod, and found that it is a 501c3, tax exempt organization. These organizations are funded by tax deductible donations, but they are prohibited from engaging in excessive political activity, especially lobbying, promoting political candidates, writing and lobbying for legislation.

Considering the fame the Center for Arizona Policy has for its lobbying and legislative activities at the state capitol, it seems hard to believe that the organization is not involved in excessive political activity. We found evidence of promoting candidates for office.

These are formal complaints to the IRS asking for the agency to investigate and take appropriate enforcement action if excessive political activity, including lobbying and creating legislation, is found. By adding your name, you are formally asking IRS to conduct the investigation and enforcement, much like a petition, only better, because we are using the official IRS Form 13909 for complaints. You can request to file the form anonymously by checking the box below.

The IRS has to pay attention to these formal documents, and if we get plenty of public support by people joining in the complaint, that will help provide the political pressure to get the IRS to take action.

If the IRS finds excessive political activity, or enough violations, the agency can revoke the tax-exempt status of the Center for Arizona Policy, make previous donors pay back taxes on their donations, impose a 25% excise tax on all the money the Center for Arizona Policy has ever raised (millions), and forbid its directors from ever serving on a non-profit board again.

This would end the Center for Arizona Policy, and stop its directors from starting up a new version.
